3 TIPS FOR STAYING SANE WHILE YOU GROW YOUR BUSINESS
I’m mildly obsessed with Tina Fey as it is, so when I saw her quoted online this week I took notice.
“In most cases, being a good boss means hiring talented people and then getting out of their way.”
– Tina Fey
Great advice from my girl.
In my experience both as a business owner and as someone who works with numerous leaders, this is quite possibly the hardest thing to do and yet so completely necessary to our growth and success. You can’t do it all and do it all well.
So, how do you get out of the way and keep your sanity? Start here:
- Let go of your ego. In most cases, others can do what you do and in some cases they might even be able to do it better. This one tends to take some time.
- Understand what decisions absolutely do require you. Strategic direction around the company, financial issues, that’s on you. Every social media post and meeting? Nope.
- Find people with good judgement. We hear a lot about finding trustworthy people but it’s more than that, hire trustworthy people with good judgement and I assure you, you will sleep better at night.
